Archives

Below, please find a preview of the week to come as well as a few reminders & highlights:

IMPORTANT: Add/Drop Class Deadline

  • December 16 is the last day to drop a course without it showing up on a student’s transcript.
  • If a course is dropped after December 16, the course will appear on the student’s transcript and show whether or not the student was passing or failing at the time of the withdrawal (WP: Withdraw Pass, WF: Withdraw Fail).
  • If a student drops a course in which they are failing after December 16, a 0 will be calculated into the student’s Cumulative GPA.

Christmas Dessert Bar

  • PH PTSA is planning on providing a Christmas Dessert Bar for faculty and staff on Thursday Dec 15th from 12 -2.
  • We are looking for items such as K-cups, flavor creamers, cupcakes, cookies, candies and water bottles to be donated. If you are able to donate please have your item(s) sent to the main office no later than Thursday Dec 15th by 9am.
  • Thank you in advance for all that can help us make this a special time for our PHamily faculty and staff.

College Financial Aid

  • College admission and/or funding questions???:  If you need help filling out your FAFSA (Federal Student Aid form) or CSS Profile for the 2017-18 academic year, you can make an appointment with the PH GRASP representative, Mila Spaulding, by calling Counseling at 365-8020.
  • She is available on Thursdays in Counseling to help with any aspect of the 2-year or 4-year college process.
  • Priority Filing Dates are deadlines that are unique to each school, and very important to meet.
  • Don’t leave funds somewhere that could have been yours if you had just finished a form before its deadline.
  • Mrs. Spaulding has helped PH Seniors with this process for the last 10 years, and she will be glad to help you.

Reflections Winners

  • The Reflections Program is an annual  student recognition program that encourages creativity in school and at home.  The theme this year was “What Is Your Story?”.  Through personal exploration and creation of original works, students can grow in confidence and ability in the Arts while engaged in their own learning.
  • There were a record number of entries this year.  Here are the winners of Patrick Henry High’s 2016 Reflections Program:
    • Visual Arts – Michelle Page – for her entry titled “Tapestry.”
    • Music – Aleana Hicks – for her entry titled “Life.”
    • Literature – Lily Abbott – for her entry titled “Lily.”
    • Photography – Avery Inge – for her entry titled “Immerse.”
  • Winning entries move on to the County level, and will be notified by the Hanover County Reflections team should their entry advance to the Regional level.
  • Congratulations, winners, job well done!  And thank you to every student who submitted an entry.  Please continue to explore your creativity through the Arts.  For underclassmen, please consider entering again next year.  Special thanks to all the teachers, staff and judges who promoted and participated in the Reflections Program.  We could not have had a successful program without your help!

SCA Holiday Meal

  • Each year the SCA hosts a custodial dinner before winter break.
  • The custodial staff does so much for our school and we use this opportunity to thank them and show our appreciation.
  • The SCA is asking for donations from the community to put a bag together for each custodian to be presented at this meal
  • The SCA is requesting eight of the same thing. Any donation is greatly appreciated. We will be collecting donations through Dec. 13th and they may be turned into the front office or the SCA office.

PSAT Basketball Concession Stand

  • The Patrick Henry Boys and Girls JV and varsity basketball season starts on Tuesday, November 29. Come out and support our teams and stop by the PTSA concession stand. We will have sodas, bottled water, Gatorade, hot dogs, chips, candy and more for sale during all the home games.
