PATRIOT PRIDE EXPRESS Issue 4 – September 9, 2016

Archives

Dear Patriot Nation,

We had a PHantastic first week at PHHS!  We truly have the BEST students, staff, and families, and we are off to a PH Pride start of the year.  For the first three issues of the Patriot Pride Express, we were chock full of information to share.  While this issue is still thorough, we do want this document to be a true EXPRESS-  “quick bites” of “need to know now” information with our website serving as the supporting context and bigger picture.  This is an exciting time of transition for us as we strive to “bundle” communication for our stakeholders.  In this issue, please find a preview of the week to come as well as a few reminders & highlights:

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT

  • Back to School Night will be on Wednesday September 14th from 6-8PM. This is a chance for parents to walk their students’ schedule and meet with their teachers.
  • The night will start with a PTSA meeting in the Auditorium at 6PM, followed by reporting to your child’s Flex Block to receive a copy of his/her schedule.
  • Parent Help Stations for eConnect, PowerSchool, and Remind 101 will be available throughout the night to   help you get connected and stay abreast of your kids’ school info, grade data, events, and notifications.

STUDENT PICK UP AND DROP OFF & AFTERNOON DISMISSAL

Admittedly, we started on a bumpy note with our student dismissal this week, but with diligence and teamwork, we ended on a positive note, thanks to everyone’s cooperation!  From Tuesday to Friday, we cut dismissal time and campus clearing by 21 minutes and on Friday had zero students miss a bus, dismissed the entire campus and cleared the lots by 3:46 PM, and did so all within the context of a much more organized, well supervised routine that has student safety at the center.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AS WE RE-DEFINED THIS PROCESS AT PHHS.  Here are a few recaps and reminders:

  • Student drop off and pick up is in the FRONT OF SCHOOL ONLY.  Please see this front of school diagram for all drop-off & pick up:  Student Pick up/Drop Off

    • Order of dismissal:
      • First wave of dismissal:
        • ACA (Advance College Academy) students from HHS (on A Days)
        • Car riders and student drivers
        • In-season student athletes
        • Bus Load #1
      • Second wave of dismissal:
        • Bus Loads #2 and #3

  • Parking decals are $75 and may be purchased by LICENSED drivers that are Seniors & Juniors who have no other outstanding fee/book obligations.
  • We will begin checking for student decals the third week of September.

On Tuesday, we will hold grade level Expectations Assemblies during an extended Flex Block.  We will review and further explain routines and expectations and also share some grade level specific information.  We encourage students to sign up for Remind 101 for each relevant grade level group.
