IB Art Exhibit
Patrick Henry High School is proud to announce the IB Visual Arts Exhibition at Hanover Arts and Activities Center located at 500 Center Street in Ashland. Our
first year IB students will also exhibit their work. The following graduating seniors will be presenting their IB Exhibitions on March 18, 19, 20 and 21. Our students will be participating with IB students from Atlee, Hanover, and Lee Davis High Schools. Gallery times are 9:00 to 2:00 on Friday, March 18, and Monday, March 21,
and from 11:00 to 5:00 on Saturday, March 19, plus 1:00 to 5:00 on Sunday, March 20. A reception will be held for the artists and guests on Saturday, March 19, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Come out to see these amazing artists’ pieces:

Thank you for participating in the Miracle Minute for a family who lost everything in a tornado on Wednesday, February 24. We collected $1200 from our wonderPHul school community.
Chorus Chick-fil-A Night
Monday, March 7, and the first Monday of every month is PH day at Chick-fil-A in Ashland. 15% of all PH purchases from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Monday will be donated to the PH Choral Boosters. All you have to do is put your Chick-fil-A receipt in the black box on the counter inside the store. If you purchase via the drive thru, please take your receipt inside, and deposit it in the box.
Mrs. Nuckols and Mrs. Flinchbaugh, senior class sponsors, will hold a mandatory senior class meeting on Tuesday, March 8, at 11:30 a.m., in the auditorium. All seniors need to attend because the sponsors will review all the information seniors need for upcoming senior activities.
Additionally, Mrs. Nuckols and Mrs. Flinchbaugh will hold a senior parent meeting that same night at 6 p.m. in the auditorium where the sponsors will present the same information with the parents.
All seniors must pay their $30 senior dues and turn in their graduation practice/senior picnic permission forms to either Mrs. Nuckols or Mrs. Flinchbaugh ASAP.
Also, we still have some long sleeved senior t-shirts available from Mrs. Nuckols. The price now is only $10.
March Writing SOLs
We will administer the writing SOL test on March 15 and 16 to all juniors. Because the test has two components, multiple choice and an essay, each student must test over two days. We will begin all SOL tests at 8:30 a.m. For these two days, we will hold no study block, and we will adjust the bell schedule as follows:
A1/B1 8:30 – 10:55
A2/B2 11:00 – 11:55.
3rd and 4th blocks–normal times.
If students finish the SOL during the first block, they will stay in their testing rooms until the bell rings at the end of 1st block (10:55). Students can bring a book to read when their SOL is done. They may not use their phones or computers after they finish testing.
Students who are not juniors will travel to Hanover High and The Hanover Center for Trades and Technology as usual. Juniors will not travel in the mornings.
Patrick Henry High School Strings Boosters Scholarship 2016
The Patrick Henry High School Strings Boosters are pleased to announce a scholarship that will be awarded at the discretion of the boosters board to one ($500) or two ($250) exemplary students.
Eligibility requirements include:
- PHHS senior who plans to major or minor in music
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher through the 1stsemester, and
- Participation in the PHHS Strings Program for two or more years
- One-page personal statement outlining education or career goals and why the applicant is deserving of this award
- One letter of recommendation from a teacher or leader outside of class who is familiar with the applicant, preferably music-related
- Deadline: April 1, 2016
- Completed portfolio should be returned in a sealed envelope to Mr. Idleman

PHun Run, May 21, 9 a.m
Join the fun at Patrick Henry High School’s 2nd annual 5K Color Run/Walk! Run or walk with family and friends on our colorful course. The event is sponsored by the PH Emerging leaders. Two dollars of each registration goes to support the cross country team. All other proceeds will go to Hanover Safe Place. Registrations can be completed online or submitted to the school:
The “Hanover’s Spirit of Volunteerism Awards” is a great opportunity to recognize the many volunteers who support our school and community. Anybody can nominate a volunteer. On March 8, at 5:00 p.m., the PTSA will hold a general membership meeting in the library to discuss upcoming events, fundraising, including the silent auction, the financial report, school activities, and other items of business. Please join us.
Also, the Patrick Henry High School PTSA is seeking donations for the Spring Online auction in April this year. The goal of the auction is to raise funds for the activities, initiatives and programs sponsored by the PHHS PTSA, including school improvements, scholarships and technology. The PTSA is also collecting items for the Emerging Leaders’ Bazaar scheduled for April 9. Contribution(s) of services, gift certificates, art work, concert tickets, golf passes, and/or other items are greatly appreciated! Students interested in applying for the PHHS SODA team for 2016-17 can pick up application information in the front office. Applications and teacher recommendations will be completed online and are due by Friday, March 11, 2016. Any student who plans to take an AP exam must complete the online registration, payment, and permission form by March 17, 2016. Nothing can be accepted after March 17. Students and parents with questions regarding AP exam registration should contact the Counseling Center at 365-8020.

Reminder Regarding After-School Events: Parents and students are reminded that no students are allowed to remain at PH after 3:30 p.m. to wait for athletic events to begin. Additionally, for safety reasons, students with permission to remain after hours must be with a sponsoring adult, such as a coach, the entire time.
