Have you moved or changed your address recently? If you have, Hanover County Public Schools would like to remind you of our residency requirements and policy. Only the following students are legally permitted to attend HCPS:
- Students who physically reside within the boundaries of Hanover County with a parent or guardian.
- Nonresident students who have obtained approval from the School Board Office.
If a change in the bona fide legal residence occurs, it is the responsibility of the parent(s)/legal guardian(s) to notify the school immediately. Parent(s)/legal guardian(s) should provide the schools in which their children attend two proofs of residency upon a change in address.
Proof of residence shall include:
- one of the following, which must reflect the resident’s name and physical address: a sales contract for the purchase of the residence (signed by seller and purchaser), a deed, a current mortgage statement from the lender, or a signed current lease;
- one of the following, which must reflect the resident’s name and physical address: a current bill for landline telephone, cable, internet or satellite service, a voter registration card, an automobile registration card, or a tax document for the most recent tax year (income tax return, W-2 form, receipt for personal property taxes paid within the current year).
Should you have any questions, please contact your school registrar, or you may contact Mrs. Sandra Crowder at (804) 365-4616.
